Fujifilm Firmware Updates

Heute hat Fujifilm neue Firmware-Updates veröffentlicht die neben der Filmsimulation REALA ACE vor allem den “AF-Bug” beheben sollen.

Der auf Youtube lebende Teil der Fuji-Gemeinde hat sich in den letzten Wochen gefühlt mit nichts anderem beschäftigt, obwohl das Problem (der Bug) für viele Fotografen keine Relevanz hatte. Ich will den Bug hier nicht in Abrede stellen, aber die emotional geführte Diskussion z.B. im Fujiforum konnte ich nicht nachvollziehen. Ja, der Autofokus war bei der X-H2s mit der Firmware Ver.6.00 in Bezug auf die Augenverfolgung deutlich schlechter, fast unbrauchbar geworden, aber nicht jeder hatte diese Funktion genutzt und so war eine Verallgemeinerung schwierig. Zumal die X-H2s mit der Ver.6.00 zumindest in meinem Einsatzszenario perfekt funktionierte.

Firmware Details

Fujifilm war jedenfalls fleißig, denn auch für die X-T5, X-H2s, X-H2 und X-S20 gibt es neue Funktionen, die in Form von Featureguides (neue Features) dokumentiert sind. Die X100vi bekommt zwar auch eine neue Firmware, muss aber ohne Featureguide auskommen. Das ist aber kein Drama, die Kleine macht auch so Spaß Smile

  • Fujifilm X-T5, (Ver.4.00) von 3.10 mit zusätzlichem Featureguide für die neuen Funktionen der Firmware
  • Fujifilm X-H2, (Ver.5.00) von 4.00 mit zusätzlichem Featureguide für die neuen Funktionen der Firmware
  • Fujifilm X-H2s, (Ver.7.00) von 6.01 mit zusätzlichem Featureguide für die neuen Funktionen der Firmware
  • Fujifilm X-S20, (Ver.3.00) von 2.01 mit zusätzlichem Featureguide für die neuen Funktionen der Firmware
  • Fujifilm X100VI, (Ver.1.11) von 1.10

  4. When the shutter button is half-pressed at the same time as the “AF ILLUMINATOR” light metering operation, the camera freezes in rare cases
  5. When the shutter release button is pressed all the way down without pressing it halfway under the following conditions, the camera freezes in rare cases

Zu REALA ACE gibt es eigentlich nicht viel zu sagen, außer “You want it, you get it”. Fujifilm hat diese Simulation für den Sommer versprochen und jetzt haben wir sie. Vor einigen Wochen hat Fujifilm auch eine sehr interessante Seite über die Filmsimulation online gestellt, die sehr viele Informationen zum Thema bietet. Allerdings muss man der englischen Sprache mächtig sein oder einen Übersetzer benutzen. Auch wenn man die Country/Region auf Germany ändert, bleibt die Seite auf Englisch.

Ebenfalls eine gute Quelle zum Thema Fujifilm Filmsimulationen ist dieser Artikel auf Imaging Resource.

The camera freezes in rare cases while recording, zeigt wieder das maßgebliche Teile der Firmware in Kameras einer Generation wiederverwendet werden. Der AF-Bug trag ja auch nicht nur in der X-H2s sondern auch in der X-H2 und X-T5 auf.

Schaut man sich dann noch die Featureguides an, sieht man das an der Integration von Frame.io kontinuierlich gearbeitet wird. Hier würde ich mir mehr Engagement seitens der Software-Hersteller (ON1, Capture One, Skylum und DxO) wünschen, mit Ausnahme von Adobe mit der Creative Cloud und Apple mit Final Cut Pro weißt nur noch der Avid Media Composer diese Integration auf.

Die Änderungen der Firmware Ver.1.30 für das GF80mmF1.7 R WR.

  1. The operability of the “Focus ring” is improved when using the following applicable camera.
    1) Applicable camera (*1)
    ・FUJIFILM GFX100 II
    2) Improved items (*2)
    ・Lens vibration at zooming using the “Focus ring” is reduced
    ・Focus tracking when operating the focus ring is improved
    ・Focus ring rotation angle is optimized for movie taking

    *1：Camera firmware update is required to enable the above improvements. Be sure to update the camera firmware to the latest version before updating the lens firmware.
    GFX100 II Firmware update Ver.2.20

    *2：“FOCUS RING OPERATION” must be set to “LINEAR” to enable these improvements. Be aware that these improvements will not be enabled when “NONLINEAR” is selected.

An dieser Stelle und für diejenigen, die Probleme mit Firmware-Updates haben, mein Beitrag zur Anatomie der Firmware von Fujifilm.

Zum Einspielen der Updates werde ich nach wie vor den klassichen Weg über eine SD-Karte wählen. Funktioniert und macht keinen Ärger, persönlich würde ich sagen “Finger weg von der App” wenn es um Updates geht.
